The weight, girls. Seriously, get your mind out of the gutter.
I realized that I tend to post on here all the time anyway, so I may as well consolidate things into a pseudo update journal. Lux has actually stuck with writing in her thread, so I should be able to have that sort of commitment as well.
So I've survived the holidays without actually againing weight, which is a huge relief. On the other hand, I didn't lose any either. I did lose around 200lbs, however, in the form of a male, so that's a huge weight off my mind. Pardon, my bad puns. I've decided to take myself out of the dating game, which will allow me to focus 100% on fitness and health. The excessive eating out over the past month has been really rough. Once I subtract restaurant food from the mix, I should be dropping the pounds rather than maintaining as long as I keep my exercise levels up.
Yesterday I went to the doctor's office, although my major physical isn't until April 3rd. By then, I hope to have shed nearly 20lbs. That's approximately 90 days, which seems like a lot for such a short time, but it appears to be relatively feasible. So that's 1.5lbs per week. I also need to contend with the accumulation of muscle vs. fat, which has been a major issue over the past several months. While I dropped a pant size last year, I had a net loss of only 5 lbs.
On Monday, I'm going to get my body fat percentage measured at the gym! That will be highly motivating to have my chub clamped with some pinchers. It will also give me the full picture on my fat loss vs muscle gain. I mean, I can say up and down that I've gained muscle this year, but until I can see quantitative change vs. qualitative, it means nothing.
Oh, as I was saying: The nurse measured me in at 166lbs, but while wearing shoes, jeans, bulky sweater, winter coat, wallet and kets, etc. I also disagree with her scale measurement technique - she jotted the weight down the second the little point lifted from the bottom, whereas I personally always center it. But whatever, I'm subtracting 3 lbs for clothing which drops it to 163lbs, which is what the scale at my gym says. I always weigh myself on the way to the shower, so I'm just wearing a towel. So that will be my official Journal-Start Weight.
Start Weight: 163
Current Weight: 163
Goal Weight: 143
I'll update with body fat and measurements later!
I'm continuing with Weight Watchers, except that I'll actually return to counting points again, rather than being a total bum. That should keep my diet in line, no matter how tedious I find the program. This time, however, I'm going to skip tossing in Activity Points, since they were so arbitrarily calculated and gave me a false sense of accomplishment. I will give myself 1 point if I go to the gym and leave it at that, no matter how hard or long I workout.
I'm also hoping to get a big calendar to mark down progress on, and hang it my bedroom. Give myself a check for going to the gym, a check for staying within my points. Write down my weight daily in order to assess my weight fluctuations and perhaps identify any major patterns.
I think that sums up everything I'm starting with for now. I'll give more details about fitness programs later.
